Nearly Three Months!!!

Will here!

The Berlin Family has been on the move in more ways than one. In fact, it may even be more ways than ten. We've only said it about 30 times so far, so you should know that we keep booked up. Some days we wonder why, but then there are days like this past Saturday (when I was having some pretty surreal stomach issues) when we were hunkered down in our apartment for about 7 hours. Soon, it wasn't the stomach pain that was surreal, it was the cabin fever. We ended up running a couple of small errands and taking a late night stroll just to get some air. Maybe it's the air we like, and maybe it's the frenetic pace of things that gets us the most air.

So, I know Clare mentioned in her last post that we had some big plans for the rest of our summer, and these plans have really taken off! We are planning an epic cross-country road trip at the end of July that will spill over into August. We'll travel a total of 5,800 miles, drive for over 95 hours, see the highlights of three National Parks, and drive clear to the City by the Bay, old San Fran herself. This has been a dream of mine basically since I realized that I had the power to set events in motion, and now that Clare and I can see the impending beginning of Med School (the trip puts us back 48 hours before the start of that journey), we feel that this is an appropriate way to cap off our first summer of married life. Three months in, and we're looking forward to scratching one more life goal off the Bucket List. Excellent!

News!

So we are busy, per usual...but we have some big plans/news coming up! We'll share them on here soon- but one is more immediate, and one is a very "adult" decision! Woohoo!

This weekend we are heading to a birthday party down in Poplarville, MS, and then meeting up with some friends for a cookout! I also have a lot of painting planned- clarity is taking off!

Once we have more details settled we'll announce some of our new plans!

TGIF!

Kindness

Something else I wanted to pass on :)

The 5 precepts of Reiki:

I will let go of anger.
I will let go of worry.
I will give thanks for my many blessings.
I will do my work honestly.
I will be kind to every living thing.

This is my new mission in life.

Are you happy?

Just found this and wanted to reblog. Very True.

We owe it to our spouses, children, friends- and most importantly- OURSELVES to be happy. If you're not happy, make a list of what used to make you happy or what you wish you could do-- then start doing those things. Become active. Start walking in the mornings, or plant some flowers, or go meet some new people. Whatever it is- You just have to start. No more excuses.

This week Will and I have started exercising again. It's hard getting out of bed earlier, but it's worth  it when the rest of the day you feel great. I am also trying to start painting again. I have created another blog that you should check out- it's called clarity. I am displaying my artwork and hoping to sell a few pieces. I'm not really looking to get rich, or even sure if anything will sell, but if someone takes a liking to my art I'd love to be able to brighten up their day a little with a happy, cheerful painting. If nothing else it gives me an outlet to display some of the stuff I create and am proud of.

So today is the day. Are you happy? If not, now is the time for change.

Whew!

Well, we made it to Tishimingo and back, despite the 95 degree heat index. And let me tell you, 95 degrees when you don't have access to AC is miserable! We had planned to stay two nights, but after a long hike on Saturday through the heat, we decided to pack up and head on back home. It didn't exactly help that our campsite had absolutely. no. shade....but we had a good time for the time that we were there- and got some great pictures! We plan on going back in the Fall/Spring when it's cooler, but for now I think we'll stick with day hikes!

Surprisingly this work week has gone by pretty quickly! Since we didn't have work Monday, Will and I devoted the day to errands- so much for relaxing on our day off- HA! What can I say, we like to be on the move! We even picked up a new piece of furniture for the study! This weekend, however, we don't have any major plans and we are definitely looking forward to relaxing. We plan on cooking out and starting (and hopefully completing) a project. We have several pieces of furniture that we have plans to re-purpose, now it's just finding the time to get them done. I'm hoping we can knock a few off the list before Will starts school in the Fall. We haven't decided which project we'll tackle this weekend- but I am so looking forward to spending a lot of time at home and with my sweetie.

June!

Well - here we are! Marching into another month of married life. With our marriage still just under two months old, Clare and I still face a big learning curve. I've never been a husband, and Clare has never been anyone's wife (that's what she keeps telling me, at least), so we are both still working day in and day out to figure out what the heck it all means. I could write all day long about abstractions and nebulous ideas about love and commitment, but the concepts rarely touch on things like having dinner ready at  home or hair clogging the drain or running the sponge through the dishwasher every once in a while. These things, I suppose, are just the things you learn as you go. They are the finer staccato notes in an ongoing melody. Every so often, there is discord; but it usually only serves to heighten the enjoyment of the symphony's story.

Marriage. Is. Awesome.

It helps when you're married to your best friend.
